Jason Behr: Skinwalkers August 10 2007

Jason's new film!!!

Skinwalkers is an upcoming werewolf horror/action/thriller film directed by James Isaacs, the director of another horror film, Jason X. The film stars Jason Behr, Elias Koteas, and Rhona Mitra. The film was originally expected to hit theaters on December 1, 2006, but was later pushed to a release on March 30, 2007, and again pushed back to July 27. The film has now been set to be released in the US on August 10, 2007.
Skinwalkers marks Lions Gate Entertainment's first collaboration with Constantin Films, which created other sci fi films, such as Resident Evil, Resident Evil: Apocalypse and Wrong Turn. The special effects will be handled by effects house "Mr. X", which has done films such as the Dawn of the Dead (2004). This film also marks Lions Gate Entertainment's first collaboration with Stan Winston who created the effects for the Terminator films, the Jurassic Park franchise, Interview with a Vampire and the film War of the Worlds.
Director James Isaac has said, "Skinwalkers is unique because it has a great story, compelling characters, amazing special effects, action and stunning visuals. All of these elements come together in a way that is very organic to the story. I am very excited about the team of filmmakers involved in this project."

Roswell: On DVD The Right Way Petition

There is a petition going around, titled 'Roswell on DVD The Right Way' search.

The petitioners are proposing that consumers pay more for the DVDs to recoup licensing fees, which is something that is right to do. I would love to have Roswell this way.

When a show is played on TV, no licensing fees are necessary because it is first a onetime thing, broadcast through the airwaves but on no solid media. On DVDs, using the music is like a making a music CD, only with video. In this scenario, use of the song MUST be paid for. The use of the song repeatedly on thousands of hard media, (DVDs). This amounts to large licensing fees. Roswell was a niche show, and did not have that amount of funding to be able to use all original songs. Paying more for original style/music DVDs would help repay this cost, with the payment coming from the consumer. This would be fair to both the producer of the DVDs at FOX and the customers who desire the original score.

"The original broadcast episodes, all three seasons--61 total episodes--of the Fox television show Roswell to be released on DVD in complete season sets with ALL of the ORIGINAL MUSIC, wide-screen format and multi-channel surround audio... We also desire the inclusion of bonus features such as the gag reels, deleted scenes, flubs, unaired episodes (such as the complete original unaired pilot), screen tests, cast interviews, etc.
Our pledge to you is simple--release Roswell on DVD with ALL of the ORIGINAL MUSIC and the aforementioned bonus features and we, the still loyal, rabid and WORLDWIDE fans, will pre-order at least one copy of each season's box set or a single complete 3 season box set from a legitimate and authorized retailer as a show of our commitment to this product and to the show that deeply touched us and which we still love and crave in its ORIGINAL unaltered form. We understand that DVD sets with ALL of the ORIGINAL MUSIC will cost more to produce and we are prepared to pay substantially more than the cost of the currently available sets."

The song from the TV episode is "She Cries Your Name" by Beth Orton, which the episode is named for.

Interview with Roswell’s Majandra Delfino

Majandra Delfino, perhaps best known for her role as Maria DeLuca on the UPN teen-alien drama, “Roswell”, talks to the Midnight News about life as a teenage alien, her music career, and her personal beliefs about the possibility of life on other planets.

The series has been off the air for over 5 years now, do you find that there is still an active interest in the show?

Oh yes very much so. It’s fabulous (that is I love it). I believe it’s a real testament to how important it was in peoples lives and how wonderful the creator and writers did at providing watchers with something meaningful with staying power.

Why do you think after all this time there is still such an active fan base? Why did it strike such a chord with its audience?

A lot of it is mysterious to all of us really. I think that’s what makes the writers so brilliant. When he/she gives you something that reverberates yet you don’t know how in the heck they did it.

How plausible do you think the premise of the show is?

Absolutely, 100 percent plausible.

What is your personal belief regarding the existence of extra terrestrials?

Absolutely, 100 percent real to me. I mean really now… how in the world can we be the only beings in the entire universe? Our universe is just a small universe in a universe in a universe. How, pray tell, could it be just us? It’s quite self-centered, really, to think we are alone in all that space. Whether it’s happening in another dimension or if these universes and planets have time cycles, I can’t say. But I do feel strongly that there are many many of us out there, thinking the same thing, preparing shuttles to our planet and seeing nothing but barren land when they arrive. I think UFO sightings can be explained as cross-overs of these dimensions, or even extra-terrestrials in the exact dimension soaring above us going “Woah! What the-”

Do you believe a craft from another world actually crashed near Roswell in 1947?

I absolutely believe that an extra-terrestrial ship crashed and of course it was explained away. How else would the government handle such a thing? “Guess what! There are aliens! We don’t know if they are good, bad, allergic”. I mean really, does one really think they’d just come out and say it? They need us to be behaved and under-control. Imagine what would happen to our economy, our family nucleus, our entire outlook if we realized, collectively, that there’s a “bigger picture” not involving the things we’re taught to believe since childhood - such as god, etc. I predict people would do some very erratic things. It’s in the government’s best interest to have such startling - and possibly explosive - news covered up, for “our safety” of course. I just wish they’d trust us with some truer version of it. Did they ever ponder that perhaps empowering us with this knowledge might make us feel hopeful rather then hopeless? That’s the part that annoys me.

As one of the stars of the show Roswell, I have to believe that you have attracted the attention of your share of - let’s just call them “interesting” fans. What are some of the more fantastic people you have met as a result of the show? Good and bad.

Well. While it has been great, there are sometimes people not so great. Most interesting to me are those that want to feel a “part” of the whole experience and they think what will set them apart and make them stand out from the other Roswell fans is by being haters. That’s a mentality none of us on the show ever understood because they are also some of the most loyal of fans. That contradiction never made sense to us. But those people are VERY rare.

I, personally, have had the most wonderful experiences because the fans have been beyond great and wonderful. They are also really artistic which has been such a beautiful thing for me personally. Making music for such creative people has felt so rewarding. Knowing you are being embraced by a talented person is the highest compliment in my book. But for every 5000 wonderful experiences, I’ve had 1 or 2 crazy experiences - from people wanting to “impregnate me with their alien love-child”, to people going on websites and literally pretending to be me. I’ve even seen tattoos of Maria and Michael embracing or kissing inked on peoples bodies - which is doubly weird since Brendan Fehr is an ex-boyfriend and good friend. So yes there have been some moments worth commenting on. But it’s a teeny tiny price to pay.

What are you working on now?

Well, as most of my pixies know, I have an album out. I am also in the midst of negotiating a show deal with a “secret network” that I’ve worked with before. Hopefully it will end up being picked up into a series so that it won’t have to be a secret anymore!

Success on television has had both positive and negative affects on many music careers. How has it affected yours?

It has been both great and sometimes….eh. My first album was heavily promoted because of the show [Roswell], and luckily for me it kept fans wanting more. My new album has had like zero publicity and yet it’s selling beyond any of our expectations. That is such a wonderful feeling. The few negatives I’ve experienced were mostly in the beginning when people were upset that my first album contrasted starkly with the character I played on Roswell. But that was such a different time then. It seems now people are very accepting of Majandra as a separate person than Maria Deluca. They feel freer to love both just as much and just as intensely. Whereas a few years ago there seemed to be a need to pick one. I think that’s due in part to the changes with “crossover” artists as a whole as well as a testament to the loyalty of Roswell fans who are more open minded.

Describe your music to someone who has never heard it before.

I’m terrible at this. I think the best people to ask are the fans. They have such a great way of capturing these things. You can hear it on myspace or my website, I am of the strong feeling that you will have a better grasp of its style then I ever will. My nose is literally touching the bark of the tree, there’s no way I can possibly see the whole forest.

I understand you have released the record on your own label. Where can people buy it?

The CD is available on my website (www.majandra.com). It’s released through an indie label that my buddies created on my behalf. They sort of took me out of a bizarre situation and created a nice and simple one. They felt strongly that the CD just needed to be released and they carried me through it till the finish. Also, I love it because thus far (laughing) I’m the only artist on the label.

Are there any plans to tour in the near future?

There are definitely plans, and the plans are in motion. Nothing concrete as of yet. I am so looking forward to finally singing these songs I’ve babied for 2 years. Everyone has been loyally waiting and it’s only right that I can finally sing these songs for them, in person.

Finally, this weekend is the 60^th anniversary of the 1947 Roswell incident. The city of Roswell is having “the Amazing Roswell UFO festival”. Any plans to be there?

God I would LOVE to be there. All they have to do is call, and Devon and I would be there in a pulse. I know - and I can say it without even having been to Roswell - I will love it and I’m certain it will feel strangely like home.

Take the 5 North to the 14 North. Do NOT take the truck route.

Exit at Sand Canyon Rd and go left. If you want to arrange to meet others, Coco's restaurant is a good meeting place, so turn left into Coco's parking lot (it's an immediate left after the exit. For those of you with a trip odometer in your car, you may want to set it to zero at this point, to aid you with the directions. When leaving to go on the tour, turn left out of Coco's parking lot onto Sand Canyon Rd and take the first right (at the light) onto Soledad Canyon Road.

The first "landmark" will be the tunnel that Michael sat near while hitchhiking in Independence Day and that the Pod Squad walked through in The Departure. From Coco's parking lot, it is 4.6 miles to the tunnel. Drive through the tunnel and park off the side of the road to take pictures. At this point, your trip odometer should read 4.8 miles. Before leaving, make note of the "No Trespassing" signs and the chain link fence. Your next landmark will look very similar.

The next landmark is where Nasedo Max dumped the body of the FBI agent - Mile Marker 67 - in Max to the Max (or at least where we think it may be). There is no actual mile marker there. It is .4 miles from where you parked at the tunnel. Your trip meter should read 5.2. There is no building, just a chain link fence, but there will be a sign that says 12000 Soledad Canyon Rd, in addition to the No Trespassing signs. It was in front of the lower section of fence, to the right of the signs, that the body was dumped. The railroad tracks between the tunnel and this point MAY have been used in Independence Day (where Michael told Max about Hank's abuse).

Continue on Soledad Canyon Rd for about .5 miles, at the intersection of Agua Dulce Canyon Rd (which will be straight ahead), turn right, staying on Soledad Canyon Rd. Go over a small bridge, then the larger bridge. Pull over after the large bridge. Your trip meter should read 5.9. This is the bridge used in Destiny. Max and Liz came up from the opening on the North side of the bridge, were cornered by the FBI and then jumped off from the center of the South side.

Get back in your car, make a U-turn, head back towards the small bridge, cross it then turn right onto Agua Dulce Canyon Rd. Continue going straight for 4.5 miles (trip meter will be at 10.4) until you get to the entrance of the Vasquez Rocks Park (official address 10700 Escondido Canyon Rd). Before the entrance, you will come to a stop sign. Agua Dulce Canyon Rd will veer to the left; straight ahead will be Escondido Canyon Rd. You will continue to go straight on Escondido. The entrance will be on your right. Drive all the way to the end, following the signs for the activity area (trip meter will be at 10.9). That's where the parking is and it's also where "the" rock formation is, where the pod squad stood at the end of Four Square, where Michael and Isabel stood among the alien symbols in their vision/dream and where Michael stood on top of a large boulder looking down on himself in his vision (the boulder is the one that looks like a tiny cave that's a part of the "wall"); where the outside of the pod chamber is, is anyone's guess, but if you watch the beginning of Max to the Max, where Max, Michael and Isabel are running to the pod chamber, they are on top of the rock formation, near the pinnacle.

On to the next landmark. Go back out the way you came in. At Escondido Canyon Rd, turn left. Turn right at the stop sign onto Agua Dulce Canyon Rd. Pass the Hardware Store. On your left you will see a Market Liquor sign. Turn left there and park in front of the Agua Dulce General Store. From where you parked at Vasquez Rocks to here should be 1.4 miles (your trip meter should read 12.3). This is the General Store that Max, Liz and Isabel stopped at in 285 South (where Max flattened the FBI guy's tires while he was on the phone). The jeep was parked on the left side.

Continue down Agua Dulce Canyon Rd for about .9 miles (13.2 on trip meter) to 33638 Agua Dulce Canyon Rd - Agua Dulce Airpark Ranch. Do not panic if you notice the numbers are going higher than 33638; the entrance just happens to be beyond the legal address. There is a black and orange sign on your right to tell you where to enter. The road you are now driving on was used for the opening credits and I believe it was also where Maria picked up Isabel when her jeep broke down (in Monsters). Drive to the very end and park (your trip meter should read 13.7)

The diner here was used for Pepper's Café in The UFO Convention (North side), the Roadside Café in Disturbing Behavior (West side), the Liftoff Gas Station in Monsters (South side) and 285 South (North side) and the Levi's photo shoot. There are directions painted on the tarmac to help you determine which side is which.

The hangers down below were used in Summer of '47; I was told the debris field from SO'47 was also shot here (but I don't know where) and the tarmac was probably used in ITL&ITB when Liz went to the airport.

Note: The Airpark is used frequently by the movie/TV industry, and during filming it is closed to the public.

Return on the road you came in on (head for the 15 MPH sign). Go back to Agua Dulce Canyon Rd and turn right (trip meter should be at 14.3). Go to the end of the road (1 mile) and turn left onto Sierra Highway.

Go about 2.6 miles. As soon as the one lane highway becomes two, pull over to the motel on your right (12117 Sierra Highway). This motel was used for the Sultan's Hide Away Motel in 285 South. The Jetta was parked in front of the first stone wall. Room #3 was Michael and Maria's room. This motel was also used in Summer of '47 (where Hal Carver stayed); I think they sat on the 2nd stone wall.

To return, continue down Sierra Highway for about 6.4 miles (approx 23.4 on trip meter) and turn left onto Sand Canyon Road. This will take you back to the freeway (1.8 miles) Turn left onto Soledad Canyon Rd, then turn right onto the 14 South. Take the 14 South to the 5 South.

RoswellAntar*: Beginning

Roswell is my favorite show. Period. I own all three seasons on DVD, have the soundtrack, and collect songs from the show regularly. I also post on the mediablvd and imdb forums for this show.

Nothing can change my feelings for Roswell. I started watching in 6th grade as a 11/12 year old, recording episodes for future viewing. I am now alomost 19 years old and have renewed my devotion to the show. I drove out to Best Buy one night and stumbled upon the DVD seasons. I bought season two first as it was only twenty dollars and season one was not offered.

Later I bought season three, although it was $32.99. It didn't matter to me. I got S1 on Ebay for $26.99 with shipping, to complete my Roswell collection. That wasn't enough. I found several sites that shared my love and started to visit them regularly. Now I have about eighty of the songs from the show including the soundtrack.
